Many things go into the art of interior design. Finishes, furniture, fabrics, etc. but one thing that plays a key role in the finished product are plants. Whether it be a fern, a spider plant or even a fiddle-leaf fig, all of these natural pieces of art play many roles in how a room turns out in the end.

Plants seem to work in so many places, simply because they come in many shapes and sizes, making it easy to find the perfect plant for your space. In instances where a space has high ceilings, something tall like a mature fiddle-leaf fig helps to bring a better connection between the floor space and the ceiling. Situations where a wall seems lifeless, adding some shelves with a few small plants can create a whole new look while also adding color variation.

Plants are also a great way to create a soft feeling around furniture with distinct lines and rough edges. By placing a very leafy, round plant at the end of a rather defined edge of a TV stand, it helps to soften that edge while also adding interest around the TV.

With a space that has little to no view of the outdoors, plants help bring the wonderful aspect of nature, indoors. Simply adding a plant here and there makes a drab place feel more connected to the outdoors, creating a space that makes the inhabitant feel relaxed.

Plants work in various situations and can completely change the look of your space by adding color, adding life, adding dimension while also not taking away from the original design of the space.
